Description
Model: 403.050
Rescuing the hijacked “Landshut” aircraft on October 18, 1977 in Mogadishu made the German GSG 9 (Grenzschutzgruppe 9) special forces world-famous. Just as legendary as the reputation of the anti-terrorism unit of the German federal police is the diving watch that their maritime unit wears during its missions.
Together with GSG 9, Sinn developed the EZM 2 mission timer in the mid-1990s. This timepiece met the special functional requirements of the divers exactly and incorporated the successful features of the 403 HYDRO diving watch. Now this service watch has a worthy successor that can be purchased by anyone: the UX (EZM 2B) diving watch.
The diving watch incorporates proven features such as the HYDRO Technology for perfect readability even under water and freedom from reflection at any angle, a large black dial with white hands and 5-minute indices, especially visible at 12 o’clock (mission timer design), a case made of seawater-resistant submarine steel and a captive diver’s bezel tempered to 1500 Vickers with TEGIMENT Technology.

In conjunction with its instrument chronographs and watches, Sinn is renowned for its sports and diving watches. Sinn diving watches have lead the way in terms of technical advances for timepieces that must withstand rough and demanding conditions. Thanks to its HYDRO technology, Sinn produces anti-reflective diver’s watches that are totally condensation-free, made of stainless steel and capable of reaching any possible diving depth. The HYDRO technology involves filling the watch case with a crystal clear oil that ensures the dial is legible from all angles, does not condense, and will not compress thus allowing it to withstand great water pressure from the outside. Other special features of Sinn water watches include:
- Gaskets made of highly elastic plastic that remain water tight regardless of pressure
- Scratch proof sapphire crystal, anti-reflective on both sides to ensure a clear view of the dial at all times
- Luminous numerals, coated with a special inactive, long-lasting luminous paint
- Magnetic field protection
- Adjustable bands (stainless steel, titanium, silicone or shark skin) to allow the watch to be worn over a wet or dry suit.
Sinn sport and diver’s watches surpass standard DIN norms for diving watches. In fact, they fulfil the prerequisites of DIN 8306 in which strict safety standards for diver’s watches are precisely and extensively established. Anyone serious about diving or extreme water sports should have the reliability and performance of a Sinn sport or diver’s watch by their side.
This is the watch of the German Special forces. It is functionality reduced to the minimum. It is designed so that the wearer can read the time in a fraction of a second. The important elements are immediately readable ie the minute hand, hour hand and markers. All other elements on the dial are in matt red to visually down play their appearance and not detract from the main aspects of the dial. The inside of the pearl polished, sandblasted case is filled with pure oil. Another important feature is the fact that the screw-in crown has been moved to the left side of the case to 9 o’clock, ensuring optimal freedom of wrist movement, especially when a wet suit is being worn. The best testimonial for this watch is the fact that it is the preferred watch of the maritime unit of the GSG 9 whose divers, and their equipment, undergo the toughest professional demands.
