M 29 Classic Einzeiger. Slowing down – single-handedly
An unobtrusive design and a practical display for daily use lead to a slow-down effect. With the M 29 Classic Einzeiger, Mühle-Glashütte minimalistically interprets the display of time. As a member of the “dial indicator gauge” family, the M 29 Classic Einzeiger captures the look of traditional single-hand measuring instruments by the business founder Robert Mühle. This timepiece takes the wearer on a wonderful journey to the origins of the traditional family business.
Traditionally, everything at Mühle-Glashütte revolves around precise measurement. After the business formation in 1869, Robert Mühle manufactured measuring instruments for the Glashütter watch industry as well as for other industries. For example, a universal dial gauge for watch makers, as well as the quick measuring instruments “Ideal”, emerged from the traditional single-hand look – instruments with which different ranges could be accurately measured. Over a span of 1/10, 1/50 or even 1/100 of a millimeter measurements could be read with just one glance. The different specified accuracies of the instruments, which could be implemented depending on the customer’s wishes, are also reflected today in the “dial indicator gauge” family of the M 29 Classic. After the variants with a central second and a small second, the M 29 Classic Einzeiger is the third timepiece in this watch family from Mühle-Glashütte.
The single-hand model offers the possibility to rediscover time in a new way and with just one brief glance. This is due to the reduced dial design and simplicity of the display. Simultaneously, the single-hand style refers to a relaxed approach to time, allowing the wearer to savour the moment. No ticking seconds hand and additional information distract the viewer.
As it should be for a time measuring instrument from Mühle, Mühle-Glashütte has designed the single-hand watch as precisely as possible and has taken over design elements from the instruments by Robert Mühle. The two-fold scale of the original instruments is also incorporated in the M 29 Classic Einzeiger. With this scale, time can be read quickly and easily in quarter hour intervals from the inner scale ring. In the precise and hierarchicalized second scale of the rehaut, 10-minute intervals are represented by longer marks, and extremely fine indices display the time in two-minute intervals. This design is reminiscent of the millimeter scale of the traditional measuring instruments from Mühle. The dial design also refers back to this period. The black needle hand and dark hour indices contrast strongly with the clear, cream-coloured dial. Together with the red indicators above the hour indices, they help guide the reader and strengthen the instrument character of the watch. As all members of the M 29 Classic family, the self-winding movement of the single-hand model is also equipped with the patented and especially shockproof woodpecker neck regulation. The resilient casing is water resistant up to 10 bars and comes with a screw-in crown with side protection.
While the M 29 Classic models with central second as well as the M 29 Classic Kleine Sekunde (small second) measure time exactly to the second, the single-hand model is designed more for daily time specifications. Whether it is half past six or a quarter after three – the goal here is not to watch time fly, but to view it at a glance. Thereby the M 29 models from Mühle-Glashütte have the right instrument for every sense of time – whether it be to the split second or to enjoy the moment.
