Description

Hanhart Austrian Air Force AW169M
Model: 733L.290-5112

AUSTRIAN AIR FORCE AW169M Limited Edition chronograph

In collaboration with the Austrian Air Force, Hanhart has developed a chronograph uniting heritage with contemporary functionality, tailored for airborne missions. The stunning AUSTRIAN AIR FORCE AW169M Limited Edition, is strictly limited to 50 pieces with a fluted bezel, and 50 with a smooth bezel.

With its fine details, the dark green dial with the historic Hanhart logo combines the fascinating history of aviation with its modern evolution. An added ‘eye-catcher’ is the propeller motive, which Leonardo da Vinci once sketched in his manuscripts as the “Helix Pteron”. Hanhart has immortalized this symbol of aviation on the lower part of the dial as a sign of progress and innovation. The name “Leonardo” also contains a connection to a leading Italian manufacturer of military helicopters, the AW169M, which form part of the modern day fleet of the Austrian Armed Forces.

The AW169M is characterized by its performance and versatility, which make it an indispensable tool for day and night missions. With a diameter of 45 mm, the limited edition is produced as a single-pusher chronograph, also known as a monopusher chronograph. This special version makes it possible to control all chronograph functions – start, stop and zero setting – with just a single pusher, and only in direct succession. In contrast to its two-pusher counterpart, there is no option to restart the chronograph hands after stopping. When the pusher is pressed for the third time, the hands immediately return to their starting position. Hanhart has redesigned the automatic calibre used for this purpose in its own workshops. The sub-dials for small seconds and the 30-minute counter are positioned on the dial’s periphery for ease of legibility. In addition, the green dial seamlessly incorporates other attention-grabbing elements reminiscent of the early precision timepieces, namely bold and detailed cathedral hands alongside Arabic numerals coated with Super-LumiNova for enhanced contrast.

To ensure that the chronograph not only looks good but also runs precisely, the high quality automatic calibre ETA 7750 with a modification from La Joux-Perret is concealed under the screw-down stainless steel case back. To extend the chronograph’s range of use, it offers water resistance of up to 10 ATM (100m).

This model comes with either a fluted or smooth bezel and dark brown leather vintage-look strap, or with an option to upgrade to metal bracelet if your lifestyle requires.
