Description
Hanhart 417 ES 1954 Flyback (custom-made)
H701.210 Flyback
Lovers of traditional timing keeping complications and Hanhart’s classic 417 ES collection now have the best of both worlds with the inclusion of a flyback complication on the 39mm 417 ES 1954 model, equipped with Hanhart’s manual-winding flyback calibre with an integrated column wheel.
The importance of the 417 ES
The re-release of Hanhart’s legendary 417 ES model range marked the beginning of a success story. Following the relaunch of the 417 ES 42mm model, Hanhart introduced the classic 417 ES 1954 in a 39 mm case – the same size as the original on exhibition in Hanhart’s museum.
Return of the Flyback
The Flyback complication pays tribute to Hanhart’s long tradition of producing chronographs and gives a nod to the company’s most popular model. In fact, the original 417 ES, designed for pilots of the German Air Force, was equipped with “Temposchaltung”, or “flyback function” as we know it. The mechanism allows immediate measurement of a new timing interval via the reset pusher. The high-grade AMT5100 M calibre responsible for precision originates from Sellita’s manufactory AMT department. It controls the chronograph via a column wheel and has a power reserve of at least 58 hours when fully wound.
As a custom-made piece the 417 ES 1954 Flyback is available in a robust 39 mm stainless-steel case with fluted bezel. The case size delivers a classic aesthetic and functionality designed to suit a wider variety of wrist sizes. This case is water resistant to 10bar (100m), and features anti-magnetic resistance up to 16,000 A/m according to DIN 8309. The dial is simple, classic and very Hanhart in terms of composition, legibility and functionality.
The 417 Es 1954 with custom flyback draws upon traditional design, optimal comfort, superb functionality and a little ‘je ne sais quoi’ that gives this piece its special characteristic and bespoke edge.
