Description

Habring² Chrono Felix Perpetual – Salmon

In case you need more proof that ‘small can also be great’, Habring2’s Chrono Felix Perpetual will seal the deal.

With a subtle case size of 38.5, the Chrono Felix Perpetual is the ‘little brother’ of Habring2’s Perpetual Doppel (the 43-44mm, double chronograph with perpetual calendar). But fear not, this ‘little brother’ has a lot to offer with the Habring² in-house calibre A11CP and many signature refinements. In fact, Maria and Richard Habring have dubbed this model ‘The King of all Chrono Felixes’.

The calibre craftwork is supplemented/boosted by a Dubois Depraz module. It has a diameter of 30mm and a minimal height of 1.6mm. Dubois Depraz is located in the Swiss Vallée de Joux where, historically, the company produced the calendar modules for all major watch brands. Maria and Richard have selected these modules for their outstanding quality, functional experience and proven performance.

Unlike its big brother, the Chrono Felix Perpetual is not a double chronograph. This allows the movement to comfortable slip into a 38.5-millimeter housing. It is a watch of “pragmatic High Mech”. In other words, mechanics at their finest, but at the same time particularly suitable for everyday use. And that means in concrete terms: waterproof, shockproof, easy to operate, low risk of damage to protruding parts/case, as well as convenient serviceability.

The dial on this model makes a very tidy impression – by keeping things simple and only using as many displays as absolutely necessary. The minute counter comes through the moon display and counts a maximum of 30 minutes. When you hold the small Chrono Felix in your hands for the first time, you should also take a look at the stepped bezel because it is indeed a “stepped-bezel” – a small but fine nod to the chronos of bygone times.

Inside the watch, the aforementioned classic calendar module from Dubois-Depraz reliably does its job by harmonising and collaborating excellently with the Habring² calibre A11CP thanks to the layout of its display. The date, day of the week and the moon phase are displayed, as well as a leap year. Date, month and moon phase can be adjusted via three correctors. The fourth corrector is dispensed with because the chrono pusher also needs its workplace. The day of the week is simply corrected via the hands. In any case, the calendar is presented better and faster via the hands after a few days of standstill. And if you like to watch the passage of seconds on a continual basis, you can always leave the chronograph function in operation.

While the 38.5mm Chrono Felix Perpetual is naturally “Made in Austria”, there are many references to Switzerland. In particular the Lake, Lac de Joux, in the high mountain valley of the Vallée de Joux in the northwest of the canton of Vaud. On one side of the lake lived the well-known raw-movement producer Valjoux, whose chronograph movement inspired Habring² to create its own chronograph calibre while Dubois-Depraz is located on the other side of the lake. In this sense, Habring² has built a bridge over the lake and between eras of time to bring you the beautifully crafted, highly innovative Chrono Felix Perpetual.
