Take to the Skies with the Pioneers of Aviation
Muehle-Glashuette’s limited edition Terrasport IV BRONZE offers performance and style with a dial to suit your tastes.
This collection comes in two variations: either a mocha or khaki-coloured dial – each version limited to 250 pieces.
When you think about Otto Lilienthal or the Wright brothers, what characteristics come to mind? These people were fearless individualists who ignored all of the dangers and disapproving voices to make their dreams of flying a reality. These flight pioneers were also the kind of people who would have absolutely loved the Terrasport IV BRONZE.
In a nod to the two-winged planes that took aviation to the next level, Muehle-Glashuette has created a limited edition of classic-looking, Terrasport IV timepieces. Both versions of this bronze, limited edition not only feature different-coloured faces but also vintage leather straps that are perfectly colour-coordinated to ensure a harmonious design. What’s more, the surface finishes of the fluted bezel also differs according to the dial colour chosen:
– the Terrasport IV BRONZE with a mocha-coloured face has a bezel with a matt finish,
– the bezel of the khaki-coloured model has a finely polished surface.
The case material of the traditionally-styled pilot’s watch pays tribute to the unique character of the flight pioneers who inspired it. Muehle-Glashuette has opted for a bronze alloy – a wonderful material that is now rarely used and is designed to change or patina over time, making every single watch unique and reflect its wearer’s story. For added durability, the bronze material is used for the middle section of the case, the crown and the bezel. The back of the watch, on the other hand, is made of wear-friendly stainless steel and features a transparent case back.
The case itself has a diameter of 42 millimetres and is water-resistant up to 10 bars (100m). Another special feature of both models is the mushroom-shaped pilot’s watch crown. The fact that the top of the crown slightly protrudes from the case makes it very easy to use. As with all Muehle watches, the crown is decorated with a special engraving of a windmill motive. In the limited-edition Terrasport IV BRONZE models, the windmill is almost three-dimensional, rising up from the crown to add an extra highlight.
Just like the successful biplanes of times gone by, a pilot’s watch goes far beyond a perfectly finished appearance; it also needs to fulfil a functional purpose. In this case, the Terrasport IV BRONZE doesn’t need to fly but does need to provide precise time measurement, which is ensured by its SW 200-1 Muehle version movement. The movement contains Muehle-Glashuette’s shockproof woodpecker neck regulation and is regulated in six different positions and set to ensure accuracy values of between 0 and a maximum of +8 seconds per day. This precision target forms the heart of Muehle’s own regulation standards, which comply with the German chronometer standard, and helps to ensure that the watch never runs slow. After all, Muehle-Glashuette’s ultimate priority is making sure that its watches never make their wearers late. That they look great as well, is an added bonus!
