Last chance for collectors: One piece only!
To mark 15 years of field experience Muehle-Glashuette presents the Anniversary Model of its iconic S.A.R. Rescue-Timer in a stunning bronze case.
As individual as its wearer.
Over 15 years have passed since the first captains of the German Maritime Search and Rescue Service (DGzRS) were equipped with the first S.A.R. Rescue-Timers. At the time the S.A.R. Rescue Timer was a new piece of equipment, specially developed by Muehle-Glashuette to meet the operational and personal needs of members of this specialised group. The cooperation with the sea rescuers throughout the development phase and subsequent tests phases out on the water led to the creation of a watch that has now conquered every challenge thrown at it for over one and a half decades. Since its hour of birth, the Muehle S.A.R watch has been a trusty daily companion for the sea rescuers of the DGzRS, which is why cit has been honoured with an extraordinarily special-edition.
The Limited Edition S.A.R. Rescue-Timer BRONZE was created to celebrate the 15 year deployment of Muehle’s S.A.R. Rescue-Timer by the sea rescuers of the DGzRS (German Marine Search and Rescue Service). In honour of this special occasion, the iconic S.A.R. Mission Timer was given a special make over for the 150 piece limited edition. The most notable differences being the aluminium/bronze case and fully luminous dial.
After 15 years of service, the development team at Muehle noticed that some S.A.R. Rescue-Timers clearly reflect the challenges that they have faced together with their wearers as they battle the tough conditions of the North Sea. This concept of adaptation and change was the inspiration behind the creation of the anniversary model. As a result of its bronze case which forms a patina over time, the watch is designed to change and adapt over time to reflect its environment. The resulting layer or crust that forms on the surface of the case not only protects the material underneath, but also changes the case in an extremely individual manner depending on how the watch is worn by its owner, the way it is used and the environmental influences it faces. The result is a truly unique timepiece that reflects the life and lifestyle of its wearer.
Wearers can further individualise their watch by choosing between two different straps. Alongside the Muehle rubber strap with a black DLC-coated folding clasp, the S.A.R. Rescue-Timer BRONZE also comes with a sporty leather and canvas strap. In combination with the black stainless steel back of the watch, both straps make it extraordinarily comfortable to wear.
The 42-millimetre-large bronze case with a screwed stainless steel back reliably protects the SW200-1 Muehle version automatic movement against seawater and other environmental influences. The aluminium bronze used for the case is also used in the field of shipbuilding, namely to make ship’s propellers, because the alloy is highly resistant to seawater. This model is not only built to withstand powerful water pressure of up to 100 bars (1000m) but also boasts another impressive highlight in the form of its four-millimetre-thick sapphire crystal. When combined with the special shockproof automatic movement with Muehle-Glashuette’s patented woodpecker neck regulation, these features all make the S.A.R. Rescue-Timer BRONZE an extremely robust time measuring instrument, just like the other members of the S.A.R. family.
Similar to other S.A.R timepieces, the anniversary model has a case that is rounded off for safety reasons and contains a rubber bezel and a crown in the 4 o’clock position. The face of the S.A.R. Rescue-Timer BRONZE, however, stands out among its fellow S.A.R. models. It is fully coated in Super LumiNova and its hands are skeletonised with a black coating. The hands therefore form a strong contrast to the cream-coloured background and enable wearers to clearly view the date display in the 4 o’clock position, which is also enlarged by a reverse magnifier under the crystal.
