The Seebataillon GMT was created as a special tactical watch for the marine protection forces of the German Navy’s Sea Battalion. This specialist Unit of the German Naval forces is on frequent deployment outside Germany to protect soldiers, ships and property of the German Navy in foreign ports and on the high seas. In addition to these tasks, the organisation is also responsible for protecting merchant ships against pirates and carrying out embargo checks. To carry out these activities, the Sea Battalion boasts highly trained personnel including boarding teams and marksmen as well as trained negotiators and liaison experts.
In order to provide loyal service to soldiers both in Germany and on the coast of Africa or in the Middle East, this watch has to be reliable, self-sufficient and precise, as well as particularly easy to read. Therefore, the dial features double indices at the 3, 6 and 9 o’clock positions and a split triangular marking at the 12 o’clock position for quick reference, even in dimly lit situations. This not only enables the best possible use of a luminous material coating, but also precisely defines the position of the hand at the full minute mark. The reduced countdown bezel also contributes towards the watch’s excellent readability, as does its skeletonised GMT hand, which does not obscure the minute graduation. Additional features such as: a useful 24hr GMT display, bi-directional scalloped bezel, 2.5mm thick, anti-glare sapphire crystal and 300m water resistance, recognise and address the tough demands placed upon the soldiers during their missions by providing a functional timepiece upon which they can rely.
One of this watch’s special features is its titanium case. The use of a light-weight material coupled with the crown positioned at 4 o’clock means that it neither limits the mobility of its wearer’s hand nor adds too much weight to the other, often extremely extensive, equipment carried by its users.
All in all, the Seebataillon GMT is a highly precise, functional timepiece that is comfortable to wear and practical in any circumstance.
