TEFNUT Sleeping Beauty
Moritz Grossmann’s TEFNUT collection combines watchmaking excellence with feminine beauty.
The stunning Sleeping Beauty collection is the result of a joint venture with award-winning Singaporean artist and designer Michael Koh. The combination of Moritz Grossmann’s horological mastery and Michael Koh’s exceptional creativity and design finesse culminate in four stunningly elegant timepieces for discerning women of refinement.
Despite its grace and streamlined aesthetics, many serious watchmaking elements are featured in TEFNUT. The in-house calibre with a classic pillar movement and 3/5 plate embodies many of Grossmann’s characteristic elements such as the cantilevered balance cock, finely finished Grossmann positioning screws, raised chatons, separable winder module and weight-optimised Grossmann balance.
The case of TEFNUT Sleeping Beauty has been artistically modified to accommodate asymmetric dial architecture. From the crown to the 9 o’clock side, the case height rises to form a sculpted point of departure for the lugs that end in gently rounded tips. To the right, the lugs are open and like the crown are graced with a cabochon gem to match the design theme.
The bezel is set with precious stones that harmonise with the case material, dial highlights and band. Each stone immaculately set for maximum brilliance.
The Dial is quite simply a dream. Comprised of a four-part design featuring roman numerals around the periphery, a radiant guilloche pattern from the centre, a sub dial small second at 7 o’clock and the crowning feature – the crescent moon set with an array of sparkling gems at 3 o’clock. It is picture-book pretty with an air of elegance and subtlety that only Michael Koh can deliver.
The Hands have been specially developed for the TEFNUT family to harmonise with the multi-faceted face of the watch. The distinctive shape is characterised by a node that tapers toward the eye of the hand and narrows to a fine point at the tip. The hour hand features its own romantically curved form with an aperture to lighten the dial. The set of hands is the result of many process steps culminating in the hand flaming process to create the characteristic Grossmann brown-violet hue.
The Yellow Sleeping Beauty case is fashioned in the clear 750/000 white gold for a playful look. The bezel is set with 60 yellow, brilliant-cut diamonds in a diminishing application. The white mother of pearl dial, brown-violet hands and anthracite moon set with 62 brilliant-cut, yellow diamonds complete the dial in a harmonious fashion. The lugs and crown are finished with iolite cabochons and the addition of a classic grey crocodile band adds a touch of flare however, if you want to make a real statement why not fit a python band and watch the heads turn as you enter the room.
TEFNUT Yellow Sleeping Beauty is a timepiece for those who love to play well into the midnight hours.
