Alexander Shorokhoff Crazy Eyes – Golden
Reference: AS.LCD-CRS02 on Yellow Stringray Strap
Imagination becomes artistic reality in Alexander Shorokhoff’s limited Edition Crazy Eyes honouring the memorable works of Gustav Klimt.
This piece marks the first in the collection celebrating 30 years of Alexander Shorokhoff timepieces. Featuring all of the signature elements we’ve come to enjoy in Shorokhoff watches, Crazy Eyes delivers bold design, innovative time-keeping solutions, detailed movement ennobling and unique artistic vision.
In a creative move, Alexander Shorokhoff has transformed the functional sub-dials of the chronograph into rolling eyes that watch time go by. The use of colour and elevation from the main dial adds an element of whimsy and joy as the small counter hands rotate in circles over the colourful face giving rise to the name “crazy eyes”.
Other elements of the dial, with their special shapes and colours, complement the whole composition and delineate the functionality with Klimt-like tones and circular features. Because the dial consists of several layers, many different applications and materials such as mother of pearl, brass, reflective coatings and colours are featured to evoke a cheerful and positive feeling for its wearer. Shorokhoff’s signature oversized 60 helps anchors the dial and also references the contemporary psychedelic style of the 60s so favoured in these limited edition horological art objects.
The movement beating inside each piece is a robust and very reliable Poljot caliber 3133 which has been partially skeletonized, hand-engraved and refined in-house to Alexander Shorokhoff’s typical high standards. The Poljot caliber 3133 was constructively based on the Swiss Valjoux 7734 movement and was produced at the First Moscow Watch Factory from 1976 to 2004. In addition to its time keeping functions this chronograph offers a stopwatch with totalising function, which can be activated via the upper pusher. The lower pusher returns the second hand to its original position.
NB: Red band sold out, limited stock on yellow sting ray band.
The warmth of the gold-plated case brings out the gold accents on the dial which are further enhanced by a vibrant, yellow stingray band on gold-plated pin buckle. This is a timepiece that makes an artistic statement as well as delivering the functionality of chronograph for those who demand the most for their time.
