Unpacking the new Sinn 144 St S Anniversary II
We are pleased to be sharing the unpacking of Sinn’s 600-piece limited edition that marks this special occasion and proving just how far this independent brand has come.
The 144 St S Anniversary II comes as a set with a black metal bracelet, as well as one of Sinn’s black silicone bands with black deployment clasp. Spare pins and a useful tool are also included in the boxed set.
The 41mm case is made from bead-blasted stainless-steel that has been hardened using Sinn’s TEGIMENT Technology, making it especially scratch-resistant. This type of technology forms the basis for the additional Black Hard Coating which adds an extra layer of resilience.
Both the black finish and integrated lug design contribute to the wearability of this piece. As does the curved, screw-in case back which absorb some of the 14.5mm height on the wrist. us a curved case back to absorb the height on the wrist- and, once again, it works.
The no-fuss, screw-down, crown does its job well without hampering wrist movement or interfering with the pushers which have ‘in-built’ protection to add stability and shield from accidental deployment.
The dial conveys a lot of information but Sinn has paid particular attention to keeping the design as open as possible by reducing the bezel size to a minimum and using flat, anti-reflective sapphire crystal on the case front.
The prominent positioning and intuitive readability of the white counters for the stopwatch minutes and seconds give this anniversary edition a modern look, without forsaking its traditional heritage.
A generous date and day window is positioned at 3 o’clock and all indices and hands enjoy a generous coating of luminous material that provides excellent legibility in dark or dimly lit environments.
A special design feature on this piece, which pays tribute to Sinn’s anniversary, is the red colouration of the number 60 on the tachymeter/pulsometer scale. Not surprisingly, it is Sinn after all, this splash of red also serves a functional purpose to enhance legibility and orientation on the dial. A similar rationale lies behind the inclusion of the red second and small counter hands which balance the dial well.
The screwed-in, exhibition case back is made from anti-reflective sapphire, and affords a view into the Concepto C99001, self-winding movement with stop second.
This timepiece comes with a wide range of technical features including:
– Resistance to low pressure – a handy feature for pilots,
– Waterproofness to 200m meaning it can withstand pressures of up to 20 bar.
– And the incorporation of Sinn’s patented Ar Dehumidifying Technology to ensure greater functional reliability and freedom from fogging.
Over the past 60 decades, Sinn has made a name for itself as a specialist in instrument watches. Choosing the 144 model to celebrate its achievements is fitting because the 144 St S Anniversary II is not only a great technical timepiece, it’s also the perfect tribute to mark 60 years of Sinn’s achievement in horology.
We hope you enjoyed this brief look at Sinn’s latest limited edition the U1 DS dive watch.
